Get our site updates by email
I've been able to set up a service to provide a feed of changes and updates to this website by email using a cool new service called FeedBlitz ....
If you enter your email address you will receive a daily summary of changes on this website. You will first be asked to sign up for Feedblitz. This service will send you an email every morning with the news from the web that you want to subscribe to.
Signup is easy and only requires your email address. I have NOT received any unsolicited spam from these folks since I signed up.
This is NOT a spam blocking service.
It's only purpose is to send you an email notifying you whenever I post a new entry to our website.

Getting Skyped
Skype has rapidly become one of the most popular applications in the internet. And why not?? Free pc to pc telephony is a good thing.
Activating
Skype is quite simple - as simple as MSN Messenger.
Requirements:
1) A computer with audio output (Can you play music? If so you can hear Skype.)
2) A microphone (a $3 mike will do). Some folks like to use a headset with mike and headphone.
3) A high speed internet connection. I've had some success using it on a dialup connection as well although the sound quality isn't as good.
First download it from
www.skype.com - it's
free - it's not a large download. If you already have a copy that is some weeks/months old don't bother using it. They are constantly fixing it and improving it so you can always get the latest and greatest at their website. There are currently two versions - version 1.4 is the voice only classic version and 2.x beta is the new one with built-in video (you need a webcam for the video but it will still work fine if you don't have one and only want to use voice).

www.xtvi.com/
www.tvtorrents.com

www.bttv.com
www.myspleen.net
The sites below provide lists of torrent files that include various types of downloads - tv, movies, software, etc.
www.torrentsearch.com

To download torrents you will need bit torrent software.
There are two that I recommend... both are free.
Azureus -

µTorrent -

It's Finally Time to Dump Internet Explorer
Too many security issues.... Now there's a great alternative.... Firefox which shipped last week.
Read this article in the
Washington Post. There's lots more press around about this on Google and elsewhere if you'd like to read more about it.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47146-2004Nov13.html
Then you can get Firefox for free at
http://www.getfirefox.com
I highly recommend it !!

Google Hacking
Fun with Google Searches
METHOD 1
put this string in google search:
parent directory /appz/ -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
parent directory DVDRip -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
parent directory Xvid -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
parent directory Gamez -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
parent directory MP3 -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
parent directory Name of Singer or album -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
Notice that I am only changing the word after the parent directory, change it to what you want and you will get a lot of stuff.
METHOD 2
put this string in google search:
?intitle:index.of? mp3
You only need add the name of the song/artist/singer.
Example: ?intitle:index.of? mp3 jackson
METHOD 3
put this string in google search:
inurl:microsoft filetype:iso
You can change the string to whatever you want, eg. microsoft to adobe, iso to zip etc…

Updating site activities
I've made some significant changes to the homepage lately, - a total re-design - you can take a look at it
here.
A couple of other new areas include some short videos I shot recently with my little Olympus D-490 digital camera using the 'movie mode'. The quality isn't great but they were fun to make and I think are fun to watch.
I put up a
photo gallery (using
Gallery 1.4) and have loaded lots of photos of Ajijic. Please take a look and feel free to leave me comments.

Web Content Publisher
This site is built using nucleus, an opensource content management system.
I recommend it highly for building database driven websites but be aware that it requires some moderate technical skill to install and configure.
